Stand-up Cup
At El-Sawy culturewheel all talents are appreciated, we know how challenging it is for performers to stand literally under the spotlight and start to make audience laugh. We are proud to be hosting, starting this year 2017, the Stand-up cup annually. If you are looking for a hilarious family friendly stand-up comedy show, you are in the right place.
How to Participate:
First Round : Any comedian can participate in the first round. Comedians get to perform on stage for a maximum of 10 minutes. The 10 eligible winners will move forward to the next round and are will be offered the following:
-A 20-hour workshop on standup comedy in 5 weeks, that will be hosted by experienced comedians
-A workshop on how to perform stand up comedy solo and in groups
-The opportunity to perform stand up with a group and 20 invitations to personally distribute amongst family and friends
-Record the event on video and share it on El-Sakia’s Youtube channel
The second round : Based on the first round, the first 7 winners of this round will move to the final round (the final) plus will be offered:
-A special meeting with professionals in this field
-A mentor to help improve their next performance
- The opportunity to perform stand up with a group and 20 invitations to personally distribute amongst family and friends
- Record the event on video and share it on El-Sakia’s Youtube channel
The Final round to announce the 1st, 2nd, 3rd winners and wish the others the best of luck next time): contestants will performs in 20 minutes and granted a tour in many Egyptian governorates and cities, the tour will be media covered and professionally documented
How to participate:
Word sensitivity is important, we don’t accept offensive vocabulary
In the first round the show cannot exceed 10 minutes and the final not more than 20 minutes
Calling out names for insult is unaccepted to us
Comedians must stick to the script they hand in before they start the show
No plagiarism
Present a CD at the very beginning of the competition with your personal data and the script for the show
Jury, audience, other contestants and the working team must be respected by all means
The show must be in Arabic
